Potential explosive devices sent by mail to Obama, Clinton homes; and the CNN building evacuated over suspicious bomb package. Everything looks like a potential interior terrorism act. Attempted to silence people who have a different political view of the Trump administration.
CNN journalist mandated to evacuate immediately when they were doing a live news show for the safety. A couple of minutes later the U.S. Secret Service said on Wednesday that it had intercepted two suspicious packages of potential explosive. Addressed to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
By this moment the social media was going crazy with all kind of information. When the news spread like wildfire that a third suspicious mail package found. This one found in the mailroom of Time Warner Center in New York City. Forced the evacuation of the building, which houses CNN’s New York bureau.
The nerves of the new yorkers tested badly by this piece information, many people remembered the September 11 attack. Many business and people immediately try to leave the city. On panic mode to go home or any other safe site.
In a statement to Yahoo news, the Secret Service said also. Another package of potential explosive addressed to Obama intercepted by Secret Service people in Washington, D.C. This catch happened on Wednesday early in the morning.
According to the Secret Service screens, all mail addressed to its protectees; the Clintons and Obamas have had Secret Service detail since serving in the White House.
“These packages instantly identified during commonly mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices. And appropriately handled as such,” the statement read. “The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them.”
The Secret Service has “initiated a full scope criminal investigation” to “determine the source of the packages and name those responsible.”
The discovery of the three packages comes just two days after a pipe bomb found in the Bedford, N.Y mailbox of billionaire philanthropist George Soros. Soros, like the Clintons, lives in Westchester County.
Officials told ABC News that the devices found in packages addressed to Soros, Clinton and Obama “appear to be of similar pipe bomb-style construction.”
NBC News reported that the return address on the suspicious packages sent to Soros, Clinton and belonged to Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Democrat Florida, a former Democratic National Committee official. Wasserman-Schultz’s offices in Sunrise, Florida evacuated Wednesday after a suspicious potential explosive package found mailed there, local police said.
Earlier in the morning Wednesday, a representative for New Castle Police Department affirmed its officers assisted Secret Service. And the FBI’s New York field office after the package found near the Clintons’ home.
In a statement, the FBI confirmed its Joint Terrorism Task Force “engaged with our federal, state and local partners” in the investigation.
“We condemn the attempted violent attacks recently made against President Obama, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, and other public figures,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
“These interior terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible must held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The United States Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies are investigating and will take all proper actions to protect anyone threatened by these cowards.”
Shortly after 10 a.m. ET, Time Warner Center was evacuated after a suspicious potential explosive package was discovered in the mailroom. An alarm in the building went off as CNN hosts Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto were live on the air.
The NYPD cordoned off several blocks around Columbus Circle, where the Time Warner Center is located. The device was removed by the city’s bomb squad and taken to a site in the Bronx, where it could be safely detonated.
The package delivered at CNN mail office was addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan. A former CIA director who is very critical against president Trump. He often appeared on CNN as a guess in the news programs. But he is an MSNBC news contributor.
